In a significant move, India has successfully brought back 549 of its citizens who were trapped in cybercrime centers along the Myanmar-Thailand border. This operation comes as a relief to those who were ensnared by fraudulent job offers, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The Indian Government, in close collaboration with its embassies in Myanmar and Thailand, conducted the two-day operation using military aircraft for the repatriation. On Tuesday, 266 Indians boarding an Indian Air Force aircraft were safely returned, following the repatriation of 283 citizens the previous day.

These individuals, hailing from various states including Maharashtra and Gujarat, were initially lured to Myanmar through deceptive job offers. They subsequently found themselves engaged in cybercrime operations without their consent. The government has been actively cautioning citizens against such scams and advises verifying employer credentials before accepting foreign job offers.
