The Rajasthan Assembly on Wednesday passed the Rajasthan Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill-2025. The bill was approved by voice vote amidst a walkout by the Opposition Congress.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari, who presented the bill, highlighted its significance in ensuring continuity in the tax collection system. According to her, the amendment aims to increase revenue and provide relief to taxpayers. The government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had implemented the GST Act in 2017, which was described as a major reform in the tax system post-Independence.
Besides the tax amendment, the Assembly also passed the Bikaner Development Authority Bill 2025 and the Bharatpur Development Authority Bill 2025. Nonetheless, the main Opposition Congress walked out of the House, expressing concerns over insufficient discussions on the bills.
