Alleged Deception and Forced Conversion Leads to Arrest

A man, Majid, was arrested for allegedly raping a woman and forcing her to convert her religion by concealing his religious identity. He was charged under relevant laws in India after the victim reported that he introduced himself using a false name, Ansh Choudhary.

On Wednesday, local authorities apprehended a man identified as Majid for allegedly perpetrating rape and attempting to coerce a woman into converting her religion under false pretenses, reported the police.

According to Circle Officer Ramashish Yadav, Majid was charged under pertinent sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act 2021.

The arrest followed a complaint by the victim, who claimed that Majid, posing as 'Ansh Choudhary,' sexually harassed her while pretending to seek marriage and pressured her to change her religious beliefs.
