Bihar Duo Jailed for Mobile Snatching in Gurugram

Two men from Bihar's Samastipur district were sentenced to five years in prison for a mobile snatching incident in Gurugram. The local court also imposed a Rs 25,000 fine on each. The prosecution relied on evidence and witness testimony to secure the conviction of Suraj Kumar and Vipin Kumar.

In a significant judgment, a local Gurugram court sentenced two men to five years of imprisonment for their role in a mobile phone snatching case. Alongside the prison term, the court imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on each individual, according to police reports made public on Wednesday.

The individuals, identified as Suraj Kumar and Vipin Kumar from Bihar's Samastipur district, committed the crime on June 11, 2024, in the Rajendra Park area of Gurugram. They snatched a mobile phone from a victim and made their escape on a scooter. An FIR was subsequently lodged at the Rajendra Park police station, based on the victim's complaint.

Following their arrest a few days post-incident, the police conducted a meticulous investigation before submitting a chargesheet to the court. Based on the weight of evidence and witness accounts, Additional Sessions Judge Sandeep Chauhan ruled the case, leading to their conviction and sentencing, as confirmed by a Gurugram police spokesperson.
