The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intensified its probe into the Rs 6,000 crore Mahadev betting app scandal, executing searches at 60 locations, including the residences of former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.
The raids, spanning across Raipur, Bhilai, and other cities, also targeted the homes of senior police officials and associates of Baghel. The Congress party labeled these searches as politically motivated attacks by the BJP, designed to tarnish Baghel's image.
Named in earlier investigations by the Economic Offences Wing, the Mahadev app promoters allegedly engaged in illegal betting operations and paid protection money to public officials. The Enforcement Directorate also suggested the involvement of prominent bureaucrats and politicians.
