EU Intensifies Sanctions Amid Hybrid Threats and Rights Violations

The European Commission is proposing to expand sanctions against new entities and individuals associated with Russian hybrid threats and the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine. EU envoys are reviewing additional sanction packages to target human rights violators, including 25 individuals and entities linked to these activities.

The European Commission is taking a hard stance against Russian aggression, proposing the addition of 15 new entities and individuals to its growing list of sanctions. This move specifically targets Russian hybrid threats and alleged chemical weapon use in Ukraine.

In a strategic meeting on Wednesday, EU envoys deliberated over the 17th package of sanctions aimed at curbing Russian activities. These discussions are part of a broader effort to address both hybrid threats and violations of human rights through a sequential implementation of new sanctions.

With the ongoing turmoil from a prolonged invasion by Russia, the EU is poised to implement a suite of measures targeting 25 entities and individuals suspected of infringing upon human rights, further escalating pressure on Russia's strategic operations in Ukraine.
