Tech Triumph: Amit Shah Unveils Major Platforms for Disaster Management

Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced three cutting-edge tech platforms to enhance India's disaster management efficiency. The Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response, NDEM Lite 2.0, and Assam’s Flood Hazard Zonation Atlas aim to improve response speed and precision in mitigating disasters across the nation.

On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched three advanced technology platforms aimed at bolstering India's disaster management capabilities. These initiatives, introduced at the annual conference of disaster management officials, include the Integrated Control Room for Emergency Response (ICR-ER), National Database for Emergency Management Lite 2.0 (NDEM Lite 2.0), and the Flood Hazard Zonation Atlas of Assam.

Amit Shah emphasized that these platforms are designed to enhance the agility and efficacy of disaster response operations nationwide. The ICR-ER allows real-time data transmission to aid rescue efforts, while NDEM Lite 2.0 enables a unified response to calamities with enhanced agility. The Flood Hazard Zonation Atlas will assist Assam's authorities in flood mitigation by providing critical real-time data.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the atlas's potential to guide flood-control measures and bolster disaster management plans. Shah also addressed the need for an environmentally conscious approach to disaster management, noting a significant shift from a relief-centric to a comprehensive, zero-casualty strategy under the Modi government.
