The Jammu and Kashmir police on Monday seized the immovable property of Mohd Shafiq, a terror suspect in judicial custody, as per an official report. The property, a 1.3 marla land parcel in Udhampur's Kadwah village, was confiscated under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Situated in the remote Basantgarh forest region, the area has experienced multiple encounters between terrorists and security forces in recent years. The investigation identified Shafiq's land as linked to terror-related activities, prompting its attachment under Section 25 of the UAPA.
Shafiq was detained last year for terrorist affiliations. His land, valued in lakhs, has been officially attached and is now barred from any sale, lease, transfer, or third-party transaction, the official confirmed.
