In a chilling incident early Monday near Bhigwan, Pune district, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and three women occupants were robbed by two unidentified motorbike-borne assailants.
The victims were traveling to Pandharpur when their car stopped on the highway, leading to the tragic encounter. The assailants threatened the car's occupants with sharp weapons and robbed them of gold ornaments.
A swift response by Pune's police has seen the formation of eight teams to track and apprehend the suspects under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.
