Naga Tribes Intensify Protest Over Job Reservation Reforms

The Committee on Review Reservation Policy, representing five major Naga tribes, has resumed protests demanding a review of Nagaland's job reservation policy. The CoRRP argues the decades-old policy no longer meets current socio-economic needs. A scheduled protest at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat is planned due to dissatisfaction with governmental response.

The Committee on Review Reservation Policy (CoRRP), comprising five major Naga tribes, has announced the resumption of demonstrations seeking a revision of the state’s job reservation policy.

This renewed push comes after tribes like Angami, Ao, Lotha, Rengma, and Sumi submitted a collective memorandum to Nagaland's government, criticizing the policy as outdated since its inception in 1977.

Although a commission was promised by June 17, delayed results and a recent statement from Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio anticipating reforms only post-2027 census have fueled dissatisfaction, prompting CoRRP to plan a sit-in protest in Kohima on July 9.
