The sister of Padmalatha, a 19-year-old woman who went missing nearly four decades ago, has expressed her willingness to cooperate should the Special Investigation Team (SIT) reopen her sister's case. Padmalatha vanished on December 22, 1986, after leaving for her college's annual day celebration.
Her skeletal remains were discovered months later, showing signs of possible foul play. Despite public protests and a transfer to the CID, the investigation stalled and was eventually closed without resolution, according to her sister Chandravathy.
The formation of an SIT to reexamine cold cases in Dharmasthala has renewed hope for justice. Chandravathy is ready to collaborate with authorities if Padmalatha's case is revisited. The case has gained renewed media and public attention, especially in light of recent findings of unidentified graves in the area. However, no official decision has been made on reopening the case.
