In a pre-wedding function held in Thane district, Maharashtra, approximately 125 individuals became victims of suspected food poisoning, according to police reports issued on Monday. The incident occurred during a 'haldi' ceremony within a housing complex in Kalyan town.
Following the event, guests experienced nausea and vomiting, prompting urgent medical attention at local hospitals and clinics. Deputy Commissioner of Police for Kalyan Zone-III, Atul Zende, confirmed that all affected individuals have since returned home following treatment.
The caterer responsible for the food, hailing from Ahmedabad, is currently under investigation by police authorities. Food samples from the event have been dispatched for assessment to determine the contamination source.
