Controversy Sparks Over Bihar Electoral Roll Revisions

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi has raised serious concerns over the Election Commission's handling of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral rolls in Bihar. He claims that the EC's arbitrary requirements for documentary proof of citizenship could render voters vulnerable to abuse and extortion.

In a social media post on 'X', Owaisi criticized the EC for suddenly implementing an intensive revision of electoral rolls ahead of the crucial assembly election, accusing it of shifting its demands from documentation to enumeration forms.

The INDIA bloc parties, led by Congress, echoed these concerns, with Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi labeling the exercise as an unlawful 'citizenship test' and demanding its immediate cessation.
