The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has expressed deep concerns over the state's deteriorating law and order situation, demanding the resignation of the home minister should improvements not be made.
At a press briefing, TPCC President Asish Kumar Saha highlighted alarming crimes, including murder, rape, and rampant drug use, impacting public safety across Tripura.
Saha criticized the government's apparent inability to protect opposition leaders and cited an incident involving Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy. Despite filing an FIR, no arrests have been made following the arson of a Congress office in Harina.
The Congress claims the formation of a Special Task Force (STF) is a direct acknowledgment of the issues raised by them. Should the STF fail to yield positive results, Saha warns of public protests pressing for the chief minister's resignation.
