Tragic Courtroom Confrontation: Husband Fatally Stabs Wife During Divorce Hearing

A shocking incident unfolded in Sant Kabir Nagar district when a 39-year-old truck driver named Santosh Yadav fatally stabbed his wife, Lakshmi, during a divorce hearing in front of their seven-year-old daughter. The tragic attack took place on Wednesday at a tehsil compound and has left the community in shock.

The attack reportedly occurred around 11 am, during the court proceedings. According to police reports, Santosh, a resident of Belhwa village, attacked his estranged wife by stabbing her face and abdomen multiple times. The grievously injured Lakshmi was immediately transported to the Community Health Centre in Mehdawal and later referred to the district hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries approximately two hours later.

Santosh tried to flee the scene but was captured by onlookers and handed over to the police. Mehdawal Station House Officer Satish Kumar Singh confirmed the arrest and stated that an investigation is underway. Lakshmi's brother alleged that Santosh had a history of threatening his sister. The couple had been in a legal dispute and living separately since 2022 due to allegations of domestic violence.
