A 37-year-old paying guest accommodation owner has been apprehended on charges of rape. The arrest took place after a 20-year-old woman reported an incident involving the suspect.
The accused, Ashraf from Kerala, had formed a friendship with the victim, a student from the same state, shortly after she moved into the PG 10 days prior.
The alleged crime occurred when Ashraf drove the woman to a deserted location on the city's northern outskirts and assaulted her, as reported in her complaint. Following the ordeal, he purportedly warned her against revealing the incident before dropping her back at the PG. Officials from Soladevanahalli police station confirmed that an FIR has been lodged under Sections 64 and 137 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
