Tragedy at El Teniente: All Trapped Miners Found Dead

In a tragic turn of events at Codelco's El Teniente copper mine, five workers who were trapped underground following a collapse have been found dead, local prosecutors confirmed on Sunday. The collapse occurred during a strong tremor that struck the area last week.

The O'Higgins region's prosecutor, Aquiles Cubillo, announced that the body of the fifth miner was recovered, pushing the death toll from the accident to six. The initial hazard claimed one life last Thursday evening.

Efforts to find the trapped workers involved clearing over two dozen meters of debris. Codelco, the world's largest copper producer, identified the first of the trapped miners on Saturday, but has yet to comment on the newly recovered bodies.
