A man suspected to be of Bangladeshi origin was arrested at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on allegations of attempting to travel to Germany using a fake Indian passport.
According to police, the accused was carrying a Bangladeshi passport when apprehended. He had presented an Indian passport under the alias Bibhas Roy during check-in procedures. Further questioning revealed inconsistencies in his story, leading to his arrest.
Authorities believe the suspect may have legally entered India but never returned after his visa expired, instead opting to establish a fraudulent identity. Investigations into the full scope of his activities are ongoing, officials said.
