Amid accusations from opposition parties of voter data manipulation, the Election Commission (EC) rebuffed these charges on Saturday, stressing the importance of timely examination of electoral rolls. The EC criticized some political entities for neglecting this responsibility, which could have identified and corrected errors early.
The electoral body highlighted that the appropriate period to address such concerns is during the claims and objections phase, directly following the publication of the draft voters' list. Raising issues at this stage allows for thorough scrutiny and subsequent rectifications, they noted.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency, the EC continues to invite political parties and individuals to meticulously scrutinize the electoral rolls. Such diligence helps electoral registration officials eliminate errors, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of voter data.
