Slovak PM Calls for Pragmatic Approach to Ukraine Conflict
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has urged Western countries to accept that Ukraine cannot join NATO and emphasized the need for discussions about territorial changes to progress towards ending the war in Ukraine.
Amidst ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has offered a pragmatic proposal for resolution. On Tuesday, Fico called for Western nations to accept the notion that Ukraine cannot join NATO.
Speaking after a European Union leaders' meeting, Fico stressed, "The first basic prerequisite for ending the conflict is the understanding that Ukraine cannot become a NATO member state."
Fico also highlighted the necessity of initiating talks on territorial adjustments in Ukraine as a critical step for moving forward in peace negotiations.
