The Israeli military has launched an aggressive operation in Gaza City, focused on dismantling Hamas' military operations. The initiative, announced by Israel's Arabic language spokesperson Avichay Adree, has begun following intense overnight airstrikes in northern Gaza.
Adree made the announcement via the platform X, indicating the expansion of this operation which he says aims to destroy Hamas' military infrastructure. The strikes on northern Gaza have already resulted in at least 20 casualties, marking a deadly escalation in the ongoing conflict.
For the past month, Israeli forces have been urging residents of Gaza City to evacuate in preparation for this operation. However, many remain because of overcrowding in the south and prohibitive transport costs despite the warnings to move south.
