In a case highlighting the serious nature of crimes against children, a convict named Ravinder has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the kidnapping and murder of a two-year-old girl. This decision was delivered by Additional Sessions Judge Amit Sahrawat following intense deliberations.
The chief public prosecutor, Aaditya Kumar, argued for capital punishment, describing Ravinder as a "serial killer" with nearly 30 similar cases registered against him. Kumar labeled him a "psychopath" beyond reform, emphasizing the severity of his crimes.
Despite the prosecutor's appeal, the court decided against the death penalty. Judge Sahrawat ruled that a capital sentence was not justified in this instance, sentencing Ravinder to life in prison, maintaining that this punition could suitably address the needs of justice for the sufferings of the victim's family.
