Tragedy in Indore: A Drunken Driver's Rampage
A 50-year-old truck driver's recklessness resulted in the deaths of three pedestrians and injuries to over 10 others in Indore. In a tragic incident in Indore, a 50-year-old truck driver drove into a crowd of pedestrians on Monday night, leaving three dead and several others injured. The driver, found severely intoxicated, had an alcohol level nearly seven times over the permitted limit, police revealed on Tuesday.
The truck driver, Gulsher from Dhar district, has since been apprehended. Claims from Additional Police Commissioner Amit Singh and Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotia highlighted his excessive alcohol consumption at the time of the incident, prompting legal charges under various sections, including driving under the influence.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who visited the victims in hospital, has announced Rs 4 lakh financial assistance for each of the deceased's families. Commendations were given to those who acted promptly during the crisis, like auto-rickshaw driver Anil Kothari and police constable Pankaj Yadav.
