In a dramatic late-night operation, police in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur arrested two individuals accused of cow slaughter following an encounter in a nearby forest.

The suspects, Javed and Israr, both from Haridwar, were injured during an exchange of gunfire with police officers. A third suspect managed to escape under the cloak of darkness, according to authorities.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Sagar Jain revealed that a tip-off alerted police to the suspects' plans, prompting officers to pursue them. The police recovered pistols, cartridges, and cow-slaughtering tools at the scene, and the injured men are currently receiving treatment at a district hospital.
