Addressing a workshop on strengthening democratic institutions, Patrudu emphasized India's people-centric governance and constitutional supremacy as the cornerstones of its democracy.

Highlighting India's journey, Patrudu recounted the Parliament and State Legislatures' role in shaping the country's destiny for 75 years. He applauded India's decision to implement universal adult franchise in its first general elections, with over 97 crore participants in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls reinforcing the nation's faith in democracy.

Patrudu credited India's democracy's resilience to its strong institutional setup and constitutional adherence. He noted India's pioneering move to require public asset declarations by lawmakers. Citing Mahatma Gandhi, he urged Commonwealth nations to embrace people-centric governance, urging a shared power structure.
