Mallojula Venugopal Rao, a senior leader within the Maoist organization and known for his strategic prowess, has surrendered, marking a significant blow to the movement's ideology, according to Telangana police.

Rao, also known as Bhupathi, was among 61 cadres who surrendered in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district. His decision comes amid growing internal conflicts and was influenced by the death of the former General Secretary, Basavaraju.

Authorities had placed a Rs 6 crore bounty on Rao, who asserted that ongoing armed struggle had lost public support. His call for a ceasefire has sparked differences among the group, with some factions still advocating for continued conflict.
