The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has announced the commencement of applications for the 35th National Energy Conservation Awards (NECA) 2025 — one of India’s most prestigious platforms celebrating excellence in energy efficiency, innovation, and leadership in sustainability.
The National Energy Conservation Awards 2025 will be conferred on 14th December 2025, coinciding with National Energy Conservation Day, during a grand ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event will be graced by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, recognizing the nation’s best performers in energy conservation and efficiency practices.
A Legacy of 35 Years in Promoting Energy Consciousness
Instituted in 1991, the National Energy Conservation Awards have been instrumental in acknowledging and encouraging entities that have taken significant strides in reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainable growth. Over the past three and a half decades, NECA has evolved into a benchmark of India’s progress in energy management, inspiring thousands of stakeholders—from industrial enterprises to educational institutions—to integrate energy-efficient technologies and sustainable business models.
The awards embody India’s commitment to the global climate agenda, aligning with the nation’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement and the broader goals of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment).
Purpose and Impact: Driving India’s Green Transition
The primary objective of NECA is to motivate industries, organizations, and individuals to adopt energy-efficient measures and technologies that reduce overall energy intensity. Beyond recognition, the awards serve as a catalyst for nationwide behavioral change, fostering an ecosystem that values conservation as a shared responsibility.
Over the years, NECA awardees have collectively contributed to significant energy savings, reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and the establishment of best practices in sustainable operations. These achievements have strengthened India’s reputation as a global leader in clean energy transition and environmental stewardship.
