Tragic End: Accused in Minor's Rape Dies in Police Custody

A 62-year-old man, Narayana Rao, accused of raping a minor, tragically died while in police custody in Kakinada district. Rao, arrested for reportedly luring a 13-year-old girl from her hostel and allegedly raping her, encountered an explosive turn during his transfer to the local magistrate.
Peddapuram sub-divisional police officer Srihari Raju revealed that Rao jumped into a pond under the guise of using the washroom. The incident occurred in Tuni at approximately 10 pm, with the man's body retrieved the following morning.
Authorities charged Rao under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and several other charges due to minor-related consent laws. The case attracted attention after footage of the crime, captured and disseminated by an orchard owner, went viral online.
