In a dramatic turn of events, four notorious criminals were shot dead during an encounter with police in Delhi's Rohini on Thursday. The individuals, linked to a string of extortion and murder cases in Bihar, were reportedly planning a major criminal operation ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
The operation was executed jointly by police forces from Delhi and Bihar. The suspects, part of the notorious 'Sigma & Company' gang, had been challenging authorities through social media and were wanted in several criminal cases. Police described Ranjan Pathak, the gang leader, as a 'dreaded' criminal actively involved in multiple extortion-murder cases.
The joint police operation, hailed as one of the largest in recent years, recovered five pistols from the accused. Authorities fired 15 to 20 shots in retaliation, marking a decisive end to the gang's criminal activities. The action underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies to maintaining peace during the election period.
