The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) President, P S Prasanth, expressed confidence in the ongoing Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the missing gold from the Lord Ayyappa shrine in Sabarimala. Prasanth stated that the Board trusts the probe's effectiveness and is hopeful for the recovery of the lost gold and appropriate punishment for the perpetrators.
Addressing the media, Prasanth clarified that the recently arrested former administrative officer, B Murari Babu, was the one who wanted to hand over the gold-plated copper claddings to Bengaluru businessman Unnikrishnan Potty for gold-plating, based on Potty's previous work in 2019. The Board, however, did not issue any orders favoring Babu or Potty.
Prasanth criticized the media and political opposition for demanding explanations from the current Board about incidents that transpired in 2019. He dismissed allegations of acquiring disproportionate wealth and challenged opposition leader V D Satheesan to disclose his assets. Meanwhile, Babu remains in judicial custody, facing accusations related to the disappearance of gold.
