The judicial commission investigating the September 24 violence in Leh, led by former Supreme Court judge Justice B S Chauhan, has issued a public appeal for information. In a notice released Tuesday, it invited individuals with knowledge of the events to record their statements by November 28.

Appointed by the Ministry of Home Affairs on October 17, the three-member commission aims to examine the circumstances leading to the violence, assess the police response, and understand the factors that resulted in the tragic deaths of four individuals. Retired judge Mohan Singh Parihar, the judicial secretary, emphasized the importance of submitting statements with supporting affidavits.

Submissions should include lists of relevant documents, with originals or true copies provided where possible. The commission will begin reviewing submissions from December 10, encouraging public cooperation for a transparent inquiry.
