Jewellery Scam: Family of Five Booked for Rs 1.4 Crore Deception
Five members of a jeweller family in Thane, Maharashtra, are accused of scamming a businessman of gold worth Rs 1.4 crore. They allegedly promised top-quality gold in exchange but failed to deliver. After receiving the gold jewellery, they disappeared, switching off their phones, prompting a police investigation.

In a shocking incident in Maharashtra's Thane city, five members of a family involved in the jewellery trade have been accused of defrauding a 41-year-old businessman of gold valued at Rs 1.4 crore, officials reported on Friday.
The victim, also a jeweller, claimed he was enticed by promises of 'A-one' quality gold in exchange for his jewellery. He surrendered gold jewellery weighing 1,216.38 grams but received neither the promised goods nor any payment.
After the transaction, the accused reportedly became unreachable, switching off their phones. The Thane Nagar police have launched an investigation into the alleged fraud.
