Tension escalated in Haldwani after baby animal remains were discovered outside a restaurant owned by a minority community member, prompting vandalism by Hindu outfits, according to police reports on Tuesday.
The incident occurred Sunday night when the animal's head was found, leading to a rapid social media spread that ignited anger among about two dozen people who stoned the restaurant, compelling its closure.
However, police investigations, backed by CCTV footage, revealed the remains were carried by a dog from a nearby forest. Assuring no foul play, the authorities have initiated legal actions and are urging the public to remain peaceful while keeping a vigilant eye on social media for provocative posts.
