Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday inspected areas along the Sahibi river and directed officials to solve problems like waterlogging and filth faced by the locals.
She directed the construction of a wall on the road, which was damaged due to flooding of the river, popularly known as the Najafgarh drain.
After the inspection, Gupta said in a post on X that her government is working on a war footing for pollution control and sanitation. Development is progressing with a focus on the extension of basic amenities in all areas.
The chief minister was accompanied by Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal and Shakurbasti MLA Karnail Singh during the inspection.
The Delhi chief minister, along with her Cabinet colleagues, has taken direct charge of the ongoing cleanliness and anti-pollution campaign by leading efforts on the ground in view of rising pollution.
Gupta asserted that ''Meri Dilli, Meri Zimmedari'' is not merely a slogan but the core working principle of the Delhi government.
She said that the vision of making the national capital clean and pollution-free can be realised only when citizens and the government work together.
She made an emotional appeal to the citizens, ''Delhi is our shared legacy. If Delhi stands united, the city will certainly become clean. Every small effort by each citizen contributes to a healthier and cleaner environment for future generations.'' Public Works Department Minister Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma inspected the Hauz Khas area of the Malviya Nagar Assembly constituency, accompanied by senior officials.
He directed immediate corrective action wherever deficiencies in public amenities were identified. Education Minister Ashish Sood carried out an extensive inspection of cleanliness and waste-management arrangements in Mahavir Enclave Part-3, Solanki Chowk, and Pankha Road in Janakpuri.
Residents informed him that waste from several wards was being dumped at a single collection point, causing inconvenience. He instructed officials to replace the gate of the waste-collection point, ensure proper segregation, and divert excess waste to Rajapuri.
Other ministers, including Pankaj Singh, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravinder Indraj, and Kapil Mishra, also inspected various parts of the city.
