In a tragic incident in Bhilwara district, two laborers lost their lives on Saturday while illegally excavating bajri from the Kothari riverbed. The victims, identified as Deepu Singh and Puran Bagariya, were buried under a collapsing sand heap near Kamdhenu Balaji temple.

The accident unfolded when a group of workers ventured into the area with a tractor-trolley to collect bajri, a type of construction sand. Despite rescue efforts, aided by a JCB machine, the bodies were retrieved only after half an hour of arduous labor.

The local police, led by SHO Kailash Kumar Vishnoi, confirmed ongoing investigations into the illicit mining activities. Meanwhile, the victims' families have called for compensation as counseling by the authorities continues.
