Two wildlife traffickers, Arslan Khan and Shaquib, were arrested, and 300 parrots recovered in a significant crackdown by the forest department and the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force. Acting on a tip-off, the joint teams intercepted their vehicle in Bareilly on Thursday.
The 300 parrots, found cramped into four large cages, originated from multiple districts and were en route to being illicitly sold in Delhi. This joint operation highlights ongoing efforts to combat wildlife trafficking.
Divisional Forest Officer Diksha Bhandari announced that a broad investigation into the trafficking network has commenced. Both accused have been remanded in custody, pending further legal proceedings.
