Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, filed a contempt of court petition in the Islamabad High Court against Adiala Jail authorities for denying her visitation rights. The petition refers to a previous court order allowing visits twice a week, which Aleema claims have been ignored.
The legal action was taken as part of a protest involving PTI leaders, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who participated in a 16-hour sit-in. Their demands include granting Aleema access to Khan and ensuring his well-being during his imprisonment since August 2023.
Authorities maintain that the former prime minister is being treated well, despite rumors of his health deteriorating. PTI members have vowed to continue protests to secure Khan's release, escalating tensions between the party and the government.
