In a shocking development, four police personnel in Uttar Pradesh's Ballia district have been booked on charges of assault and extortion, following a court directive. The complaint, filed by Mantu Yadav, claims the officers engaged in physical assault, verbal abuse, and criminal intimidation during a night checking drive.
The accused, including former station officer Madan Patel and three constables, allegedly demanded a substantial bribe for Yadav's release. An FIR was lodged at the Dokati police station, and the investigation is now underway, as confirmed by local officials.
This incident has sparked an inquiry, prompted by a complaint Yadav filed in the Chief Judicial Magistrate court. The court ordered the registration of a case and investigation, highlighting issues of police misconduct and corruption in the region.
