Gold Smuggling Bust at India-Bangladesh Border: Duo Nabbed with Rs 3 Crore Haul

Border Security Force personnel have apprehended two individuals at the Ghojadanga checkpost on the India-Bangladesh border, in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district. The duo was attempting to cross the checkpoint with 20 gold biscuits valued at Rs 3 crore, according to a statement released by the force on Monday.
The seized gold biscuits weigh a total of 2.3 kg and are valued at approximately Rs 3.02 crore. The BSF statement detailed that its jawans were acting on specific information about Indian smugglers trying to move gold from Bangladesh, leading to a heightened state of alert.
A truck was stopped at the checkpoint, and a search revealed the hidden gold biscuits. The accused, who claimed to be local laborers and drivers, confessed the gold was given to them by an unknown source, intended for further smuggling. Both the individuals and the gold have since been transferred to the authorities for continued investigations.
