Mau District Magistrate Praveen Mishra has categorically denied the accusations made by Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai, who alleged mass removal of voters' names during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in the Ghosi Lok Sabha constituency.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Mishra described these allegations as unfounded and lacking factual backing. He assured that the revision process was progressing efficiently, with several Booth Level Officers having finalized their tasks, and efforts to collate and digitize forms underway.
Anticipating a potential by-election for the 356-Mau Assembly seat in 2025, Mishra clarified that name adjustments have been performed for eligibility purposes, independent of the current revision. Meanwhile, MP Rai has vowed to escalate the issue to Parliament, contesting the purported removal of 20,000 names without due transparency.
