Spanish police announced on Monday the dismantling of the country's first known cell associated with The Base, a white supremacist organization recognized as a terrorist entity by the European Union. The operation led to the arrest of three individuals, one of whom is believed to head the group. This suspect is now in custody in Castellon province, north of Valencia. Authorities recovered a cache of weapons, tactical gear, and neo-Nazi materials during the raid.

The arrests occur amid increasing far-right sentiments in Spain, with polls indicating that nationalist groups are gaining traction among the youth, sparking debates around the nation's authoritarian past. The Base, founded by Rinaldo Nazzaro in 2018 in the U.S., advocates for 'accelerationism,' a strategy aimed at destabilizing democratic institutions through violent actions.

The Spanish cell leader reportedly communicated directly with The Base's founder, who recently called for the strengthening of international cells. Police reported that the suspects were extremely radicalized, underwent paramilitary training, and were prepared to execute selective attacks. They also used social media platforms for recruitment purposes.
