The Supreme Court has urged the Indian government to consider allowing a pregnant woman and her child, previously deported to Bangladesh, to return to India on humanitarian grounds.
Chief Justice Surya Kant, alongside Justice Joymalya Bagchi, required the Solicitor General to seek directives permitting the woman's entry through West Bengal's Indo-Bangladesh border.
The case follows a high court ruling against the deportation, which it termed illegal, further complicating the intricate cross-border immigration issues faced by the authorities.
