The Citizen Action Party Sikkim staged a protest in Gangtok on Friday, claiming widespread corruption and political favoritism in the recruitment process for police sub-inspector posts.
Protesters rallied near the district administrative center, voicing strong objections against the government led by Prem Singh Tamang. CAP-Sikkim spokesperson Mahesh Rai criticized the Sikkim Public Service Commission (SPSC) for a recruitment process he described as tainted by lack of transparency.
Rai alleged that 80% of selected candidates were linked to the ruling SKM party. CAP-Sikkim is demanding the release of candidates' detailed scores and calling for the resignation of the SPSC chairman, to pave the way for a new, impartial recruitment drive.
