At the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin underscored the enduring 'special privileged strategic partnership' between India and Russia, stressing confidence in the future of bilateral ties. Expressing admiration for India's accomplishments, Putin praised the country's significant economic growth and stable position as a reliable partner.

Despite acknowledging external pressures, particularly from the United States regarding India's cooperation with Russia, Putin remained optimistic about maintaining strong relations. He dismissed any negative repercussions, highlighting the importance of relations with such a populous and economically potent country as India, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Putin's remarks reiterated the foundation of India-Russia ties dating back to 1947 when the Soviet Union first established diplomatic relations.
