Rajnath Singh Leads Tree Plantation Drive in Lucknow on Environment Day

Defence Minister Stresses Importance of a Healthy Environment

Sharing his message on social media platform X, Rajnath Singh described a healthy environment as the foundation of sustainable development and national well-being. He said environmental protection is closely linked to the prosperity and security of future generations.

The Defence Minister urged citizens to actively participate in efforts that support ecological balance and sustainability. He emphasized that building a cleaner and greener India requires collective responsibility and long-term commitment from every section of society. His remarks reflected the growing focus on environmental issues as India continues to address challenges related to climate change, urbanisation, and natural resource management.

Joint Initiative Promotes Green Awareness

The programme was jointly organised by the Principal Directorate of Defence Estates, Central Command, and the Cantonment Board, Lucknow. The initiative formed part of the nationwide observance of World Environment Day, which is celebrated every year to encourage environmental action and sustainable practices. Tree plantation campaigns remain one of the most visible ways of promoting environmental awareness, helping improve air quality, enhance biodiversity, and increase green spaces in urban areas.

Senior Leaders Participate in the Event

Several prominent dignitaries attended the programme, including Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak. Senior military leadership was also present, including General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command, Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta. Officials from the Defence Estates organisation, Central Command, and various civil and military departments participated in the event, underscoring the importance of cooperation between government institutions and local communities in environmental conservation efforts.
