Tragedy Strikes: Hit-and-Run Claims Young Life in Manipur

In Manipur's Imphal East district, an 11-year-old girl, Ngangbam Sanathoi Devi, was killed and her friend seriously injured in a hit-and-run while returning from school. Authorities have seized the vehicle and arrested the driver.

In a tragic incident, an 11-year-old girl lost her life and another child was severely injured in a hit-and-run in Manipur's Imphal East district on Friday, according to local police.

The victim, Ngangbam Sanathoi Devi, was walking home with her friend when they were struck by a speeding van at Sawombung. Ngangbam, who had been residing in the Sawombung relief camp, died at the scene, while her friend was hospitalized.

The district administration has announced a relief compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the deceased's family, as police have taken the driver into custody following the seizure of the vehicle involved.
