The Allahabad High Court has extended its interim stay on proceedings against Abbas and Umar Ansari. The case, involving the alleged fraudulent registration of land belonging to the Gazal Hotel in Ghazipur, was initially stayed in July 2023.
The high court, presided over by Justice Sameer Jain, reached this decision after the state counsel reported that an additional advocate general would represent the state in the matters attending the upcoming hearing on December 8.
The prosecution argues the disputed land is public property. The defense maintains that the Ansari brothers, minor children at the time, played no active role in the registration. The case remains open under multiple IPC sections.
