The CEO's office of West Bengal plans to kick off a special camp on December 9 in Sonagachi, renowned as Asia's largest red-light district, focusing on aiding sex workers with electoral form submissions. The decision stems from requests made by various organizations dedicated to sex workers' welfare.
An official highlighted that Election Commission representatives will proactively visit the 166-Shyampukur constituency. Their objective is to engage with sex workers, understand their hurdles, and offer assistance in completing the necessary forms.
Concerns about the process were echoed by groups like Amra Padatik, prompting direct outreach to other red-light areas in Kidderpore and Kalighat, underscoring the broader need for supportive intervention.
