In a tragic development, a Congress worker named Ganesh Gowda was allegedly killed following a violent clash between two groups in Kadur taluk, police reported on Saturday. The incident unfolded late Friday night at Sakharayapatna, resulting in multiple injuries.
Gowda, aged 38 and a member of the gram panchayat, was attacked with a sharp weapon amidst the turmoil. Superintendent of Police Vikram Amathe confirmed that the police have visited the crime scene and are actively investigating the motive behind the incident, forming four teams to trace the suspects.
The clash broke out over a banner near a math, triggering a confrontation that had reportedly simmered from an earlier altercation near a local bar. District in-charge Minister K J George condemned the killing and emphasized the need to prevent future incidents, as police continue their efforts to apprehend those responsible.
