A bench, including Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi, noted that Abedin was implicated in two additional cases involving inappropriate conduct towards female students and derogatory remarks online. Bail was granted owing to his six-month incarceration, with directives to attend all hearings.

The court emphasized that bail should not imply reinstatement, given the nature of accusations. Additionally, the Supreme Court urged the Gauhati High Court to address the vacancy of a judicial officer to ensure trial progression. Abedin's arrest stemmed from social media activities initially perceived as anti-national.
